The Pesika 8-9 occurrence is located on a south-facing slope, south of the northeastern headwaters of Pesika Creek and approximately 7.5 kilometres west of the Ospika River.

Regionally, the area underlain by thin imbricate thrust sheets of basinal sequence Ordovician to Devonian Road River Group sediments and carbonates, and Ordovician Ospika Formation mafic volcanics.

Locally, style and type of mineralization is not described but is likely similar to that of the nearby Family (MINFILE 094F 030) occurrence and relates to minor sphalerite mineralization associated with quartz-calcite veins or stratiform barite-sphalerite-pyrite mineralization such as at the CT (MINFILE 094F 010) occurrence to the southeast.

In 1980, three rock samples from the occurrence area yielded from 0.392 to 0.473 per cent zinc, whereas other singular rock samples, taken approximately 2.1 kilometres west, 2.5 kilometres southwest, 3.0 kilometres south and 2.8 kilometres southeast of the occurrence, yielded values of up to 0.909, 1.650, 0.956 and 0.800 per cent zinc, respectively (Assessment Report 8329). It is not known if the rock samples were from talus or outcrop.

Work History

In 1980, Cominco Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling on the area as the Pesika property. In 2007, Mantle Resources Inc. completed a program of soil, silt and rock sampling on the area as the New Gun Pesika property.
